Finding the right replacement FAN for your ASIC Miner! Avalon 6, Avalon 741, Antminer S9 (S3 S4 S5 S7) , Whatsminer M3, Ebit E9

Finding the right replacement FAN for your ASIC Miner!

Most of the time when an ASIC Miner stops working, a broken fan is the root cause, other times the delivery company damaged the Miner during transport and you receive a working Miner with broken fan. Of course you have manufacturer warranty – but nobody pays you the lost mining rewards at the times when your mining gear is not operational.

Due to many questions on Bitcointalk and also some questions here we decided to write an easy guide and provide an overview where to get replacement Fans for your ASIC Miners and also show which fans can be used for replacement. Don’t make the mistake to think you can use normal computer fans for your Asic Miners cause it ain’t gonna work.

In this Guide, we will cover the fans for the following ASIC Miners: Avalon 6, Avalon 741, Antminer S3,S4,S5,S7, Antminer S9, Whatsminer M3, Ebit E9

The table below shows the airflow design, the number of fans used in the respective miner, the fan dimensions and the specs of the original manufacturer fans:

Avalon 6 pull 1 120x120mm x38mm
Avalon 741 pull 1 120x120mm x38mm 12VDC 2,7A Cooler Master A12038-60BB-4RP-F1
Antminer S3, S4, S5, S7 mixed mixed 120x120mm x38mm 12VDC 2,7A Delta electronics QFR1212GHE
Antminer S9 push-pull 2 120x120mm x38mm 12VDC 2,7A Delta electronics QFR1212GHE
Whatsminer M3 push-pull 2 120x120mm x38mm 12VDC 2,8A KZ12038B012X
Ebit E9 push-pull 2 120x120mm x38mm 12VDC 2,7A Cooler Master A12038-60BB-4RP-F1

Basically, it can be summarized that all manufacturers use the same fan dimensions and nearly same fan specs at 12VDC 2,7 -2,8A and around ~180-220CFM.

In the below table I summarized some possibilities for replacement fans which are easy to get:

Ebit E9 Sanyo Denki SAN Ace 12VDC 3,0A – 224CFM Amazon US Amazon US Amazon UK

As you can see in table there are not that many options for replacements. There is the Sanyo Denki SAN Ace fan with 12VDC 3,0A – 224CFM and the Delta electronics QFR1212GHE fan which can in my opinion used as a replacement for all mentioned ASIC Miners (Avalon 6, Avalon 741, Antminer S9 (S3 S4 S5 S7) , Whatsminer M3, Ebit E9).

For the Avalon 6 and the Antminer S3, S4, S5,S7 there is an alternative Fan from Parallelminers which is suggested and should bring a little lower noise level.

I hope this small guide helps you to work out your fan troubles! In the future we are also going to extend our portfolio and offer some replacement fans in our shop.

    Dear Tom

Thanks for all the useful information. But none of the fan is available here in India. One of the fans in my M3 miner is not working. I tried replacing it with a S9 fan, but the error log says that the fan is running at 5650 RPM but the minimum required speed is 6000 RPM. Please help. Please write to me at btclinx@gmail.com.

    Thanks.
